Hackers con CCTV supplier of Rs 2 crore – Times of India

Noida: A Noida-based company was allegedlycheated of nearly Rs 2 crore by hackers based abroad.
Officials of Aditya Infratech in Sector 4 have alleged that the accused hacked the email accounts of the company’s two China-based suppliers and sought payment in different bank accounts for the delivery of surveillance cameras.
The company officials deposited the money in different transactions to the accounts provided by the alleged hackers and realised it was duped of Rs 1.86 crore when the Chinese suppliers — Foshan Yuyang Imp and Exp Corporation Limited and Hangzhou Xiongmai Trading Co Ltd China — said they didn’t receive it.
Aditya Infratech officials initially approached Delhi Police, which transferred the case to their Noida counterparts — but that too, a year after receiving the complaint. However, an FIR is yet to be lodged.
According to the complaint by Aditya Infratech, which deals in surveillance cameras under the brand name of CP Plus, it ordered CCTV cameras in 2018 from the two Chinese consumer electronics firms for supplying the same to a Bangladeshi company.
And over a period of one year, it transferred over Rs 1 crore to the “bank accounts of the two Chinese firms” in the wake of emails sent to Aditya Infratech by hackers posing as representatives of the suppliers. However, the Noida-based company later found that they fell into the trap of foreign hackers. Aditya Infratech’s ordeal did not end there. When their Bangladeshi client wired money for the delivery of CCTV cameras to their account, cyber criminals hacked the email id of the Dhaka firm and got over Rs 80 crore transferred to their accounts, as per the complaint.
Pawar Mathur, legal advisor for the firm, said they would not like to comment on the issue. Noida cyber cell incharge Baljeet Singh said cyber criminals seemed to have used spoofing and email-phishing to orchestrate the fraud. “We are yet to receive a complaint.”
